ADOPTION PROCESS
The process to adopt from Happy Ending Rescue includes:
(1) APPROVED APPLICATION :
: The first step for adopting from Happy Ending Rescue is to submit a
completed adoption application.
Please download our application (WORD DOC). Please fill it out completely and send it to us via email.
+ ADOPTION APPLICATION (ENGLISH)
We will carefully review your
application and will be in contact with you shortly if we preliminary approve your application. Please keep in mind that completion of an Adoption Application does not mean you are automatically approved to adopt a dog.
Upon our receipt of the Application, it is reviewed and given preliminary approval for further processing. Unfortunately applications that are incomplete will not be processed.
We usually receive multiple applications for one rescue dog. Our goal is to place the best matching family with each rescue dog's temperament and specific needs.
(2) MEETING WITH ADOPTER AND RESCUE DOG
: After we have have reviewed your application we will contact you so that you can meet our rescue dog. Meeting a potential dog is the best stage in the adoption process. We believe that having a brief meeting with the dog and adopter is crucial
in finding the best fit. We can arrange a schedule at a both convenient time for the adopter and the foster parent. We also encourage you to ask
as many questions to the foster parent and have as much interaction with the dog. Please keep in mind that most of our dogs have been seriously
neglected or even abused in their previous home.
Each dog's personality is unique and might even take awhile for the dog to come out of their shell and trust humans again. That is why we think that scheduling a meeting is very important so that both adopter and dog can "sniff each other out" and be aquatinted.
(3) HOME CHECK
: We require a home check prior finalizing the adoption. A home check is to determine if the dog will be living in a safe home environment. A
home check is NOT being invasive to your home, it is a process of focusing more on the area where the dog will be spending most time. (where the
dog sleeps, where the dog plays, where the dog goes potty etc.) We want to ensure that the dog will be living in a safe new environment before
the adoption is complete.
(4) SIGNED ADOPTION AGREEMENT
: Every adopter must sign our adoption agreement, which ensures that if at any time you are unable to keep our rescue dog, he/she must be returned to Happy Ending Rescue.
(5) ADOPTION DONATION
: The adoption donation not only covers the dog's health-related expenses, but also helps fund rescue operations of future dogs in BOTH the Los Angeles area and Korea.
Our adoption donation includes the costs of spaying and neutering, rabies, general vaccinations, de-worming, flea & tick medications, microchipping, bath/grooming and a vet examination. If medication is needed, we make sure that all of our dogs have been treated before adoption.
Any additional donation would be greatly appreciated. Your donation goes to pay for all of our current and future rescue dogs that are in our care. A majority of all our rescued dogs come to us injured or with medical conditions that require expensive treatment. We cannot continue rescuing without your support.
We usually do not have young puppies for
adoption, but if we do, puppies that are less than 6 months old will have a slightly higher adoption fee.
Adoption donations vary based on the age and health of the dog.
$100 - $350 FOR DOGS THAT ARE OVER ONE YEAR OLD
$375 - $500 FOR DOGS THAT ARE LESS THAN ONE YEAR OLD
Our adoption donation is tax deductible.
